Network Rail - Mercedes Flatbed with PalFinger Crane (Depot/Maintenance) Truck  -  1/80 scale

A beauty isn't it? This is a unique Network Rail Flatbed Truck model based upon real trucks used by Network Rail to maintain the UK rail system.Sorry, no large image available of this truck

Often PalFinger crane equipment is fitted to these trucks to assist in the loading or loading of heavy materials or equipment, an image of one of these real Network Rail trucks can be seen to the right.

The Model

This is a rare (only 4 ever made) Network Rail Mercedes Actros flatbed truck model that we have built for our serious model railway enthusiast visitors.

As with most of our special vehicles, this vehicle has been stripped down to component parts and a scratch built bed fitted.

A fully pos-able PalFinger crane has been fitted which extends, moves up and down and side to side.

An amber roof light bar has been added and numerous other modifications to make this a truly desirable Network Rail truck to own on a model railway layout.

Built on a rare 1/80 scale model, this is probably the closest scale rigid chassis truck to the UK model railway 1/76 scale and so offers great realism in the authentic Network Rail livery, especially parked next to the 1/76 scale Mercedes Sprinter Mess vans we sell. (see our vans page here)

There you have it, something totally different for a  model railway and would especially look good as a feature in its own right beside the tracks being maintained or at a depot.

As mentioned before, this model is based upon a rare 1/80 donor truck chassis cab, which in itself is hard to find but add the cost of the crane and the amount of work that has gone into converting the base model into the vehicle it is today, it has been quite consuming and therefore this model has to be targeted at truly the model railway enthusiast or exhibition layout owner.

With the above in mind, the price of this model is £55.95 GBP each (+ £3.60 P&P)

Only one of the Mercedes Actros - Network Rail Flatbed trucks with a PalFinger Crane model is included, all other scenery, people, track, locomotives, vehicles etc shown in the pictures are NOT included.

Supplied in the original card display box

This is not a toy.

For a recommended age of 16 or over

Please note:

Being a die cast metal model, it is not recommended to be placed onto a track that is or could be electrified as this may short circuit and cause damage to your equipment.

Due to the modifications made to this model, the number of small parts, and general delicate construction of the code 3 parts, this model is Not recommended as a toy for children. It is purely for use as a scenic feature for a model railway under adult supervision.

EWS Fuel Truck - Mercedes Actros with a Realistic Roof Light Bar

Mercedes Actros Refuelling Truck - EWS Livery with a Realistic Roof Light Bar.

Finished in a EWS silver and red livery this is a must have for any EWS model railway depot.

This is a code 3 die cast metal model, modified and finished to a very high standard.

The donor chassis cab trucks alone now are hard to get hold of, but this is your chance to own one. (we have only a few with no others on the horizon, so if you want it, this is your only chance).

This model is unique and as you can see in the images it looks superb and very realistic on a modern OO/HO Railway as a trackside feature.

This type of vehicle is used by EWS for supply and refuelling operations away from the fuel depots, perhaps in sidings or similar areas. The tanker could also be used to deliver fuel to fuel point depots.

This model was built as a prototype and has many hours invested into it as the decals are made to the realistic size and colour.

Modifications

  • The vehicle has been stripped right down, and prepared for a 'code 3' conversion

  • The tank bowser has been re-sprayed in silver.

  • Realistic amber roof light bar fitted to the cab roof.

  • Modern UK standard chevron boards fitted below the rear light clusters.

  • EWS decals fitted to the tank on either side and rear of the tanker with further fuel identification board decal fitted to the rear.

  • EWS logo fitted to both of the cab doors and on the panel above the front grill.

  • The model is finished with side mirrors, realistic lights front and rear, highly detailed road wheels and rubber like tyres.

This is a unique refuelling truck that will look superb on any modern day model railway layout and the base models are becoming very hard to find.

Only the Mercedes Actros - EWS Tanker model shown is included, all other scenery, people, track, locomotives, vehicles etc shown in the pictures are NOT included.
