Rail JCB Fastrack -
OO Scale (see scaling details
below)
Network Rail -
JCB Fastrac

Network Rail -
JCB Fastrac
This is
a code 3 model, modified and
finished to a high standard that is
ideal for general use on any modern
image model railway layout.
These
JCB's are used by Network Rail to
work on track
repair/construction on
the UK rail network and around the
depots and yards as their multi
tasking ability, agility and speed
make them very favourable tractor
units.
JCB make
several different sizes of their
Fastrac range to suit differing
requirements from this agile tractor
unit, and using the variation of the
sizes available, this model is
exactly scale-able to OO for model
railway use.
Scaling
For
those of you concerned with scale,
This is 1/87 scale JCB 8250 that
fits well on a 1/76 layout as a JCB
3230 Fastrac (the near identical but
smaller brother model) as the images show
straddling the OO scale tracks.
Based
upon the dimensions given on the
JCB website this Fastrac is
actually is 2300mm so 7 feet 9
inches wide, which if you multiply
by 4 (4mm = 1 foot OO scale) that is
31mm and compared to the actual
model cab width which is 31 mm wide,
it is spot on OO scale!
The same
scale calculations above can be
applied to this JCB model all round,
length, height etc, so what we have
here is a JCB Fastrac that is indeed
OO scale as a 3230 model.

To
qualify the above statement, take a
look at the specifications from JCB
by clicking and opening the image to
the right:
This
model looks superb and very
realistic on any modern OO/HO
Railway as a trackside feature or
parked up in your depot or perhaps
near or beside the tracks.

recommended as a toy for children.
It is purely for use as a scenic

adult supervision.
