Specialist Vehicles

Specialist Model Vehicles made normally as one off's for specific applications.

Regrettably, due to the rarity of some of the donor vehicles these models are not generally available even to order. We show them here as a feature rather than for sale.

EWS Scania SVABO Road-Rail Vehicle  -   1/72 scale

Before you hit the contact us button in a mad frenzy, the following model is unique and is already sold (could have been sold 4 times over).

It is pictured above whilst currently back to us for repair and modifications (notice damage to roof sections and side door) before being delivered to its new owners at Manor Lane TMD hopefully during August/September 2007.

The specification includes a 360 degree fully extendable PalFinger crane and Road Rail features that raise and lower the vehicle on and off the track.

A truly original and unique model that offers so much scope for different scenarios on a model railway layout.

So, from the two 1/72 scale trucks built on different chassis cabs, this is technically the first one on a Scania chassis and longer in length that the Mercedes version supplied to Dyserth Road.

Again, this vehicle has been stripped down to component parts, a scratch built bed fitted, re-sprayed cab and all chassis/bed components, converted to right hand drive, PalFinger crane sprayed in the authentic Freightliner green which moves side to side, roof light bar added and numerous other modifications to make this a truly desirable Freightliner maintenance truck to own on a layout.

I nearly forgot to mention it, but look at the rear view image above, even an orange railway type Hi-Visibility jacket is laying on the back of the cab!

Built on a 1/72 scale model, this is probably the closest scale rigid chassis truck to the UK model railway 1/76 scale and so offers great realism in the authentic Freightliner yellow and green livery, specially parked next to the 1/72 scale Transit vans we sell

click here for a camera phone image if the real truck this model is based upon

The vehicle has yet to be completed with window frames, UK number plates and other tidy up jobs to be done before it will be offered for sale here on the website.
Most probably in a 'sealed bid' auction in September/October to give all our clients interested in it, the fairest chance of owning it.

We would perhaps also recommend that the model is weathered as it looks too 'spangley new' and in places not quite a perfect paint finish (nearside door handle area for example).

There you have it, something totally different for a Freightliner model railway and would especially look good as a feature at a TMD depot.

As mentioned before, this model is based upon a rare 1/72 which in itself is hard to find which added to the cost of the crane and the amount of work that has gone into converting the base model into the vehicle it is today, it has been quite consuming and therefore this model has to be targeted at truly the model railway enthusiast or exhibition layout owner.

With the above in mind, we are looking for an offer of £90.00 GBP (including UK std P&P) for this model

A beauty isn't it? This is a unique Network Rail Flatbed Truck model based upon real trucks used by Network Rail to maintain the UK rail system.Sorry, no large image available of this truck

Often Palfinger crane equipment is fitted to these trucks to assist in the loading or loading of heavy materials or equipment, an image of one of these real Network Rail trucks can be seen to the right.

The Model

This is a one off Network Rail flatbed truck model that we built for an exhibition/demonstration that is now surplus to our requirements and offered in the first instance for sale to our serious model railway enthusiast visitors (before most likely being auctioned onto eBay).

As we most of our special vehicles, this vehicle has been stripped down to component parts and a scratch built bed fitted.

A fully pos-able PalFinger crane has been fitted which extends, moves up and down and side to side.

An amber roof light bar has been added and numerous other modifications to make this a truly desirable Network Rail truck to own on a model railway layout.

Built on a rare 1/72 scale model, this is probably the closest scale rigid chassis truck to the UK model railway 1/76 scale and so offers great realism in the authentic Network Rail livery, especially parked next to the 1/72 scale Transit Mess vans we sell. (see our vans page here and these vans are nearly half way down that page)

There you have it, something totally different for a  model railway and would especially look good as a feature in its own right beside the tracks being maintained or at a depot.

With the above in mind, we are looking for an offer of £80.00 GBP (including UK std P&P) for this model

Station Taxi Rank, Including 2 Mercedes Vito's, 1 VW People Carrier and the Portable Taxi Cabin/Office.... everything you need

This is a code 3 scenery set, designed to give you everything you need to start a taxi rank business for your model railway station.

The set includes; Not one but TWO Mercedes Vito 7 seater Taxi's and a VW 6 seater People Carrier Taxi AND a pre-built ready-to-go Taxi Cabin/Office to place outside your station!

All of the three taxis are fitted with our own exclusive TAXI Roof Sign which has been designed especially for realism on UK model railway layouts.

The Mercedes Vito Taxis are modified and finished to a high standard with a detailed interior, side mirrors, highly detailed wheels, 'Mercedes' logo on the front grill, windscreen wipers etc.

Fawn in colour with our very own high quality TAXI roof sign which is laid out in a UK taxi style.

A fictional telephone number 555888 is fitted to both sides of the vehicle with the STATION CARS company name which is also across the front bonet of the vehicle.

Across the rear door reads:

Station Cars, Airports & Long Distance, 6 Seater Comfort, Air Conditioned

Altogether a great 1/72 scale model and a very realistic Taxi that is often seen at railway stations in the UK.

The VW People Carrier Taxi is also modified and finished to a high standard with a detailed interior, side mirrors, highly detailed wheels, 'VW' logo on the front grill and rear door, clear headlights and rear lights, windscreen wipers etc.

Green/Blue in colour with our very own high quality TAXI roof sign which is laid out in a UK taxi style.

The same fictional telephone number 555888 is fitted to both sides of the vehicle with the STATION CARS company name which is also across the front and rear panels of the vehicle.

The Portable Taxi Office finishes off the set as a base for your taxis to operate from.

Cream in colour with a grey roof, floor and window frames, this portable office comes complete with the STATION CARS name board and 555888 telephone numbers.

It could probably do with a bit of weathering in to make it look established on your layout but it looks fine as a ready-to-go kit built model.

This model set looks superb and very realistic on any modern OO/HO Railway as a trackside feature outside a UK railway station.

So to re-cap on whats included here:

  • 2 Mercedes Vito Taxis 1/72

  • 1 VW People Carrier Taxi 1/72

  • 1 Station Cars Port-A-Cabin Office 1/87

all other scenery, buildings, track, locomotives etc shown in the pictures are NOT included.

This is not a toy.

For recommended age of 12 or over

Supplied with vehicles screw mounted inside original card display box and Portable Taxi  Office/Cabin loose but well wrapped, all packaged and sent to the winner ready to be used on your layout within minutes of opening.

A Taxi Business Straight Out The Box!

Due to the modifications made to this model, the number of small parts, and general delicate construction of the code 3 parts, this model is Not recommended as a toy for children. It is purely for use as a scenic feature for a model railway under adult supervision.
