Network Rail - MAN Unit with Flatbed Trailer and PalFinger Crane (Track Maintenance) Truck  -  1/76 exact OO scale

click here to open a larger image view click here to open a larger image view click here to open a larger image view

A beauty isn't it? This is a unique Network Rail MAN Truck with a Flatbed Trailer and Palfinger/HIAB crane model based upon trucks used by Network Rail to maintain the UK rail system.Sorry, no large image available of this truck

The Palfinger crane equipment is fitted to these trucks to assist in the loading or unloading of heavy materials or equipment.

The crane is fully poseable and rotates 360 degrees as well as raises/lowers and extends out just like the real thing.

The Model

Sorry, no large image available of this truckThis is a one off prototype Network Rail MAN flatbed truck model that we built for an exhibition/demonstration that is now surplus to our requirements and offered in the first instance for sale to our serious model railway enthusiast visitors (before most likely being auctioned onto eBay).

As we most of our special vehicles, this vehicle has been stripped down to component parts and a scratch built bed fitted.

A fully pos-able PalFinger crane has been fitted which extends, moves up and down and side to side.

An amber roof light bar has been added as well as realistic amber grill mounted warning lights (normally strobe types) and numerous other modifications to make this a truly desirable Network Rail truck to own on a model railway layout.

Built on a rare 1/76 scale model, this is probably the best Network Rail articulated truck available to the UK model railway being exactly 1/76 OO scale as it offers great realism in the authentic Network Rail livery.

There you have it, something totally different for a  model railway and would especially look good as a feature in its own right beside the tracks being maintained or at a depot.

As mentioned before, this model is based upon a rare 1/76 which in itself is hard to find which added to the cost of the very rare crane and the amount of work that has gone into converting the base model into the vehicle it is today, it has been quite consuming and therefore this model has to be targeted at truly the model railway enthusiast or exhibition layout owner.

With the above in mind, we are looking for an offer of £85.00 GBP (including UK std P&P) for this model

This prototype special build truck is finished to a good standard and will add a really nice visual feature to your modern image layout.

Being our prototype, if you look really close it does show the signs of the testing of different paint stripping processes in places, this however should not put you off the model we are just being honest in the description here!

The model shown in the images is the exact model being offered for sale.

This a very realistic DB Schenker truck and most probably the only one available in 1/76 OO scale anywhere so 'warts and all', this is your only chance to get one.

EWS - Scania Lift-Bed Truck & Trailer -  1/80 scale

This is a code 3 diecast metal and plastic model finished in a EWS livery.

This sort of truck could be used by EWS to transport heavy materials etc around or to and from their depots. They can also be used as TMD depot maintenance vehicles, transporting locomotive parts etc.

The model includes: detailed interior, detailed wheels, detailed under-frame chassis, realistic rear lights etc.

The 3 axle chassis cab has a scratch built flatbed body fitted to it that has been nicely sprayed with a highly realistic aluminium effect paint finish.

This truck is based upon a similar vehicle that I noticed on the M6 in Staff's.

Although it was not in EWS livery, it was hauling railway bogies. Presumably the twin deck body allowed the vehicle to be used as a lifting platform and as a method of loading?

Anyway, based on the truck I followed, this model being offered is our EWS liveried version.

The special build flatbed body can be loaded with anything you wish and it will add a really nice visual feature to your modern image layout. Please note that the CLAAS teleporter is not included and is available separately on our construction page.

Hornby OO scale 20' containers fit very nicely to the bed of the body making this a very realistic truck parked close to any EWS locomotives or rolling stock in your depot or railway sidings or perhaps even on the open road.click here to see the real truck cab dimensions

Scale

Although the model is marked as a 1/80 (and sometimes 1/72) scale model it is in my view closer to the 1/76 true OO scale.

Based upon the dimensions given on the Scania website this cab is actually is 2430mm so 8.019 feet wide, which if you multiply by 4 (4mm = 1 foot OO scale) that is 32.076 and compared to the actual model cab width which is 31.2mm wide, it is just 0.8mm difference!

By clicking on the cab drawing to the right you will be able to see how the above scale calculation works out.

Specification

  • EWS (3 Beasts maroon on gold) decals fitted to the cab on either side

  • EWS decal fitted to the rear facing bulkhead of the flatbed body (not shown in the images)

What you get...

Only ONE Scania - EWS Flatbed Truck model is included, all other scenery, people, track, locomotives, vehicles, containers etc shown in the pictures are NOT included.

Supplied in the OEM Packaging

NETWORK RAIL - RAIL REPLACEMENT BUS - MERCEDES CITARO BENDY BUS  -  1/76 scale

Built on a Creative Master 1/76 scale model, this Network Rail (Arriva operated) Bendy-Bus was a concept idea to build a dedicated Rail Replacement Bus and it has been used on a demonstration layout for the past month.

Surplus to requirements we are offering the model here to anyone who wants to make us a sensible offer

(see below).

This bendy-bus model has been finished to a high standard and would look very realistic parked outside a railway station on any modern image layout.

There you have it, something a bit different for a modern model railway and it would especially look good as a feature parked outside of a railway station.

High quality graphics have been added to this bus making it clearly distinguishable to other buses.

As well as the large Network Rail Rail Replacement Bus markings on either side and rear, further Network Rail logos have been added to each side together with the operator Arriva logos either side.

This model is based upon a bus that is getting quite rare we are told, being 1/76 which is exact OO scale. We have produced only two of these models, one which had the grey side markings has already sold, this is the second one and we think that this will certainly be the last one that we produce.

With the above in mind, we are looking for an offer of £50.00 GBP (+ £4.30 P&P - UK std P&P) for this model.

NETWORK RAIL - RAIL REPLACEMENT BUS - VOLVO ALEXANDER BUS  -  1/76 scale

Built on a Creative Master 1/76 scale model, this Network Rail (Stagecoach operated) double decked bus was a concept idea to build a dedicated Rail Replacement Bus and it has been used on a demonstration layout for the past month.

Surplus to requirements now, we are offering the model here to anyone who wants to make us a sensible offer

(see below).

This Rail Replacement bus model has been finished to a very high standard and would look very realistic parked outside a railway station on any modern image layout.

So what do you think, something a bit different for a modern model railway and it would especially look good as a feature parked outside of a railway station or out on the open road.

High quality graphics have been added to this bus making it clearly distinguishable to other buses.

As well as the large Network Rail Rail Replacement Bus markings on either side and rear, further Network Rail logos have been added to each side together with the operator Stagecoach logos either side.

A lot of blood sweat & tears went into producing this prototype model and it is the only one we have produced to date and due to the hours involved to make it, we are un-certain of making more.

This bus is supplied with:

  • UK Number Plates (as shown)

  • RAIL REPLACEMENT BUS shown on digital type front display window

  • RAIL shown on digital type rear display window

  • All interior fitments as shown

  • Clear glass front lights and indicators

  • Detailed rear light panels including the high circular ones!

  • Wiper blades, rubber tyres, detailed wheels etc.

Before you hit the contact us button in a mad frenzy, the following model is unique and is already sold (could have been sold 4 times over).

A truly original and unique model that offers so much scope for different scenarios on a model railway layout.

Scania Freightliner Depot Maintenance Truck  -  1/72 scale

click here to open a larger image view click here to open a larger image view click here to open a larger image view click here to open a larger image view

So, from the two 1/72 scale trucks built on different chassis cabs, this is technically the first one on a Scania chassis and longer in length that the Mercedes version supplied to Dyserth Road.

Again, this vehicle has been stripped down to component parts, a scratch built bed fitted, re-sprayed cab and all chassis/bed components, converted to right hand drive, PalFinger crane sprayed in the authentic Freightliner green which moves side to side, roof light bar added and numerous other modifications to make this a truly desirable Freightliner maintenance truck to own on a layout.

This is a highly detailed totally unique code 3 model of a real Freightliner Depot / Maintenance Truck used at the Maritime Southampton depot.

This is a highly realistic model and a fantastic addition for any Freightliner model enthusiast to add to a modern day layout.
Built to a very high standard this is an OO scale model so is exactly suited for the latest Bachmann, Heljen and Dapol range Freightliner locomotives and rolling stock available.

This code 3 model has been dismantled and the Scania cab re-sprayed in the authentic Rail-Match Freightliner green and yellow colours.

The flatbed body has been scratch built and the bed is painted in a realistic wood effect colour.

This model truck includes a highly modified ridged chassis with the green Hiab / Palfinger crane that is just like the real thing.

The model includes Freightliner logos on each cab door and above the front windscreen.

A highly realistic Amber Roof Bar Light with Freightliner logo facing front and rear.

Orange/Yellow hatched chevron panels under the rear light clusters.

Orange Hi-Vis jackets inside the cab to add even more close-up detail.

The model is enhanced further with realistic wheels and tyres, side mirrors, realistic light clusters all round, detailed interior and Scania markings.

The Palfinger crane is fixed in the extended position (as it often is in Southampton) however you can turn the crane through 180 degrees giving yet another possible operational dimension to this model.
Extended legs are included (not shown) that can be attached and offer even greater realism.

For those of you who are aware of the Holland Park model railway website and exhibition layout, this Scania model is the sister model to the Mercedes Atego that we built for Holland Park, so the required level of detail and authenticity should offer assurances as to this model.

Go to: holland park model railway and browse around to see what I mean.

This model truck is not available from any shops on the high street or online, it is a one-off prototype and totally unique on the Scania chassis. The only similar model is the Mercedes Atego sister truck used on the Holland Park exhibition layout.

Only one Freightliner Depot Maintenance Truck with Palfinger Crane (generally in the centre of image) is included, all other scenery, people, track, locomotives, vehicles etc, shown in the pictures are NOT included.

Built on a 1/72 scale model, this is probably the closest scale rigid chassis truck to the UK model railway 1/76 scale and so offers great realism in the authentic Freightliner yellow and green livery, specially parked next to the 1/72 scale Transit vans we sell

click here for a camera phone image if the real truck this model is based upon

There you have it, something totally different for a Freightliner model railway and would especially look good as a feature at a TMD depot.

As mentioned before, this model is based upon a rare 1/72 which in itself is hard to find which added to the cost of the crane and the amount of work that has gone into converting the base model into the vehicle it is today, it has been quite consuming and therefore this model has to be targeted at truly the model railway enthusiast or exhibition layout owner.

If you are interested in owning this unique one -off model, it is now listed for auction on our eBay shop here and the auction ends on 13 Dec, 2009 at 22:34 GMT.
